The story so far…
Long long ago, in a galaxy far far away… I lie. It was at the start of the year, and it was at TAFE…
We began the VIDEO course! *insert w00t here*
The first few classes we got inspired by viewing what we can accomplish, and conitinued on with lectures on how to rig up lighting, how sound makes a significant difference, and how to create storyboards.
In fact, we were given a small project to create a storyboard of an advert, (and mine sucked major butt due to the fact I can’t draw) However I was stunned at some of the talent in the classroom. Sherwin and Sarah’s stand out mostly in my recollections of greatness…
After this we were split up, everyone that had done Cert III last year (or Cert IV in Nathan’s case) were sent off to create a short film (I’m not sure is quite finished yet) which I had the pleasure to act in alongside Nick Maloney.
They did this while the rest of the class recieved the low down on how to use cameras, set equiptment up, the lighting and sound totorials etc etc…
Then we were all given our major assignment.
BOOM! *drumroll* The three camera video piece on one of the greatest themes ever… TIME!
Inspired by 24’s use of the boxes throughout their show, I gave ideas and suggestions at how the task could be pulled off before we broke into individual groups to create 100 seconds worth of footage. Each group was given 100 seconds. We decided to spoof a terrorism video, coz if you can’t laugh about it… THE TERRORISTS HAVE ALREADY WON!
Nearly finished with this project, all that remains is final editing touches (and I think we need a little more footage) but it’s all comming together smoothly.
Then the sad note hit that Mark is leaving us for a better job, and we have to shuffle in our seats to the new teaching styles of Damien.
What else should we do for the rest of the year/semester/time we have video?
I’d personally like to create a short movie. Learn more editing techniques, and after effects (but I’m sure that’s why we have after effects next semester)… and have the oppertunity to play around with lighting and sound a bit more. (perhaps while doing this short movie)
Anywho… I think I’ve blogged enough… so remove the "L" and I’m off to take a……..
